Scope of Project:
This VDOT design-build project facilitates the addition of a Truck Climbing Lane in the southbound direction of Interstate 81. The total project length is approximately 5 miles including necessary tapers and transitions.

$15, 100,000 (Faulconer Portion: $15,200,000)

Project Description:
Through an executed “Teaming Agreement” Faulconer partnered as a dedicated equity partner with the Design-Builder CH2M Hill. Faulconer worked with the team’sdesigners to validate the proposed design, identify concerns, and established the construction sequencing. Through an understanding of local conditions and experience with blasting and excavation and drainage work, Faulconer has provided the lead in moving over 1,055,000 cubic yards of mass rock and earth; 19,000 linear feet of utilities; over 200,000 tons of stone and select material; performed erosion and sediment control, under drain, landscaping and maintenance of traffi c services.Due to the nature of the project and its proximity/impact on the traveling public, Faulconer has worked to establish a safe construction process. Through a concerted team project management effort, Faulconer has worked with the design team, in conjunction with the Owner, to provide an integrated construction process to deliver the project with the least impact to interstate traffic/commerce.
