The John Paul Jones Arena at the University of Virginia is a new $135 M, 15,000-seat multipurpose facility built over a three year period. Faulconer was the prime contractor to U.Va. and Barton-Malow, Inc. on all civil site work which totaled $16.1 M. This scope included a new 0.6 mile entrance road into the Arena sector, the excavation of some 90,000 cubic yards of rock and soil materials, the construction of a 40' high, 580' long mechanically stabilized wall containing 52,000 tons of stone, all utilities and civil paving systems as well as an extensive stream renovation project. The Arena was constructed on budget and opened on schedule. |
